Patriot computer drivers for Barbie or Hot wheels computer.

The Patriot Computer company is out of business now. The last article I read said they had filed for Bankruptcy. They were sueded by Matel toy company for the royalties owed for using the Barbie logos on the computer produced. There are such low profit margins on computer that are mass produced i guess they fell behind on the payments. So the company folded when they were took to court. If I am correct the company was based in Canada.

Search engine commands to help track your web site.

Example: Go to yahoo.com and search for your web site like this linkdomain:www.yourdomain.com and it will tell you all the reverse links that their bot found when searching the web for your site.

Power Searching Commands

This section is being updated to cover the major crawler-based search engines of AllTheWeb, AltaVista, Google, Inktomi and Teoma. These crawlers also provide results to other search engines, so you may find commands on them work with their partners. Major partnerships are as follows: AllTheWeb (Lycos), Google (AOL Search, Yahoo), Inktomi (HotBot), MSN Search (Inktomi), Teoma (Ask Jeeves)

NOTE: The commands above are primarily useful when dealing with crawler-based search engines. "None" indicates any crawler-based or human-powered search engine that creates its own listings but which does not provide a particular command for searching within those listings. It may also indicate a portal that that outsources for its listings and which lacks a single command to work across the multiple datasets it uses.

IGMP Protocol Overview
Written by Michael Frazier
Sunday, 25 March 2007
IGMP Protocol Overview Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP), documented in Appendix I of RFC 1112, allows Internet hosts to participate in multicasting. RFC 1112 describes the basic of multicasting IP traffic, including the format of multicast IP addresses, multicast Ethernet encapsulation, and the concept of a host group.

A host group is the set of hosts interested in traffic for a particular multicast address. Important multicast addresses are documented in the most recent Assigned Numbers RFC, currently RFC 1700. IGMP allows a router to determine which host groups have members on a given network segment.

The exchange of multicast packets between routers is not addressed by IGMP.

ICMP Protocol Overview
Written by Michael Frazier
Sunday, 25 March 2007
ICMP Protocol Overview Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), documented in RFC 792, is a required protocol tightly integrated with IP. ICMP messages, delivered in IP packets, are used for out-of-band messages related to network operation or mis-operation. Of course, since ICMP uses IP, ICMP packet delivery is unreliable, so hosts can't count on receiving ICMP packets for any network problem. Some of ICMP's functions are to:

Announce network errors, such as a host or entire portion of the network being unreachable, due to some type of failure. A TCP or UDP packet directed at a port number with no receiver attached is also reported via ICMP.

Announce network congestion. When a router begins buffering too many packets, due to an inability to transmit them as fast as they are being received, it will generate ICMP Source Quench messages. Directed at the sender, these messages should cause the rate of packet transmission to be slowed. Of course, generating too many Source Quench messages would cause even more network congestion, so they are used sparingly.

Assist Troubleshooting. ICMP supports an Echo function, which just sends a packet on a round--trip between two hosts. Ping, a common network management tool, is based on this feature. Ping will transmit a series of packets, measuring average round--trip times and computing loss percentages.

Announce Timeouts. If an IP packet's TTL field drops to zero, the router discarding the packet will often generate an ICMP packet announcing this fact. TraceRoute is a tool which maps network routes by sending packets with small TTL values and watching the ICMP timeout announcements.
