Umm, dont get mad at me, but Im just saying that Eric probably didnt go full out because he know's he doesnt have to prove anything and he was probably giving John a little time to shine. But that doesnt mean that John isnt a great player as well. Just my opinion.

well i guess if eric says john is the best guitarist he has heard in a while it doesn't really mean anything.

haha did you really just say mayer sounds lost while playing blues? pretty dumb thing to say

Or better put ... Mayer is kicking up a storm ... trying so hard ... Eric looks bored. I don't think being bored means that "God" was giving his best for the supposed guitar showdown you Mayer heads want to believe occured so that you can believe that Mayer is some kind of legend. Nuff said ... can't believe people are so drunk on the Mayer kool aid. Mayer-Fine player, but get real!! Sorry for sounding so harsh, but c'mon!!

Uh-huh ... you think EC was actually trying that hard?? You actually believe that's Eric at full-throttle?? The fact that u think so is kind of apalling in all sincereity; a 60 yr old man trying to show up the youth of the guitat world. Please ... Go check out Eric's playing of Stormy Monday from the Cream Reunion Concert ... then checck out that video of Mayer on U-Tube doing the T-Bone Classic. Mayer is a good player, but he sounds lost when playing Blues. He's a fast rock player ...

i think your a little misunderstood, its like a professional sports player trying to make a name for himself. here he is on stage with one of the greatest main stream blues players in modern music history. if he can keep up with eric then people should think that he can keep up with anyone. as for the b.b. thing, b.b. does not have the hands he used to. now b.b. in his prime would do laps around john but right now in there current states i would take john due to his youth

Clapton and Mayer are excellent friends. Mayer knows his place. He knows that he should not try to intimidate Clapton or try to prove that he is better. Mayer knows it, Clapton knows it, and the audience knows it. That said, Mayer had a much better solo than 'ric.

I laughed when john started soloing, eric just got that smile that says "I can tell this kid has prepared immensely for this but it still grooves" and then when it comes to Eric's turn its pretty much, "ah damn better rip something outa my ass" which sounds just as golden. 2 great guitarists
